Waikato AgriTech
In alignment with New Zealand’s Agritech Industry Transformation Plan (ITP), two Waikato University research groups, Waikato Robotics Automation and Sensing (WaiRAS) and the Machine Learning Group have joined together to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for Agritech research. The Waikato Agritech Group provides research in; machine learning, computer vision, sensing, control and bespoke hardware, for all types of agricultural operations. A typical example is the mechatronic precision dibbler shown below, that produces precision holes for planting forestry cuttings and has drilled over 20 million precision holes for a nursery.
